Mini Viva - Left My Heart In Tokyo

British production house Xenomania have an onslaught of bands/artists releasing this year, with some being fairly questionable -- Jessie Malakouti is way too camp and Vagabond way too serious. A "rock" band? Really Xenomania? Sexy, no no no.

However, female duo Mini Viva make up for these other future flopstars that Brian Higgins & co. are tinkering around with. Mini Viva seem to be following a direction far more reminiscent of favorite Xenomania failures Frank and Mania. Considering their MySpace promises "neat beats and musical treats," this could be a win, people.

"Left My Heart In Tokyo" is the first offering from the girls, in the form of a Treasure Fingers remix. Beware of the insanely addictive second verse.

Miike Snow - Burial

When the producers behind songs like Britney's "Toxic" make an album of their own, you know it's going to be fucking good.

Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, better known as Bloodshy & Avant, teamed up with buddy Andrew Wyatt to form Miike Snow, and their self-titled debut is one of the best releases this year.

The lead single "Animal" is pretty amazing, but we're feeling the second track "Burial."

Pixie Lott

With her debut single, "Mama Do," entering at #1 in the U.K. charts last week, Pixie seems poised to become a pretty sizeable popstar as the year closes out. The girl is pretty cute -- she's only 18! -- and has some pretty decent pipes. So far, her material is nothing too earth-shattering, but she has potential judging from the "Mama Do" music video, which is all a bit Duffy gone "Alice in Wonderland" crossed with vintage Britney (ie. very good).

Flo Rida: 2009's Pop Princess Hustler

So everyone has heard / drunkenly danced to / gotten extremely irritated by Flo Rida's two most recent singles, "Right Round" and "Suga." However, beneath the disposable hits, two popstars in the rough are buried, their pro-tooled vocals begging for hit records of their own.

Well, perhaps their time has come. Our choice for frontrunner is Kesha, the chick from "Right Round."

As can be seen, bitch is uber-hot and has the music to back it up. In the past year, Kesha's track "This Love" has popped up on the Veronica's sophomore album "Hook Me Up," and her studio time with Dr. Luke landed her singing back-up on Britney's "Circus" -- oh, and a record deal with RCA.

Flo Rida's latest call girl is Wynter Gordon, featured on "Suga." Wynter sent the pop blogosphere into overdrive well over a year ago when her song "Surveillance" hit the net. Signed to Atlantic for seemingly ages, who knows what the hell is going on.

Yeah, it's a hot track and Wynter has the Brandy-popstar-look going on, but time will tell if she can rise above the Keri Hilson's of the music industry to make a name for herself. Still, she just released a pretty sweet mixtape featuring some classics and tracks of her own. Check it...

Kissy Sell Out - Youth

Outstanding cover art aside, "Youth," the debut album from British DJ Kissy Sell Out might not be anything amazing, but it still provides some good electro ditties that are fitting for the summer months. NME tore the album a new one, but it's pretty hard to deny the goodness of tracks like "Apple Jelly" and "Bubs and Bizzle."

Responsible for some of my favorite remixes of the past few years -- particularly Mark Ronson's "Stop Me" and the Sugababes "About You Now" -- it's worth checking out even for the two tracks mentioned above. Here's the cheap video for the lead single, "This Kiss."

Paradiso Girls - Patron Tequila (Space Cowboy Remix)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Considering Paradiso Girl Chealsea Korka lent her vocals for Space Cowboy's latest single, the "Just Dance" sound-a-like "Falling Down," the least he could do was whip up a remix of the girls' debut single in return.

Yeah, so Lady GaGa's haus DJ is kind of a one trick pony, but he still can pull off a catchy tune (see: Nadia Oh, "Got Your Number"). The mix is typical Space Cowboy, but his added verse and autotuning of Aria's chant towards the end make this an enjoyable take on the already trashy original.
